Ingredients
Cornmeal Dumplings:
· 1½ Cup all purpose flour, (can substitute with whole wheat flour)
· ½ Cup cornmeal
· 1 tsp salt
· 1/3 Cup cold water (roughly)
. 4 cups of water (for boiling)
Flour (plain) Dumplings:
· 2 Cups flour all purpose, (can substitute with whole wheat flour)
· 1 tsp salt
· 1/3 Cup cold water (roughly)
. 4 cups of water (for boiling)
Instructions
Pour 4 cups of water in a pot and (1 teaspoon of salt – optional) bring to a boil, while you knead the dough. Combine dry ingredients in a clean bowl. Slowly add water, stirring with your hands or a spoon. After the water is fully absorbed use your hands to knead dough, until it is firm like shown in video. If dough is sticky and cling to fingers, add a bit more flour (1 Tbsp) at a time. If too dry add water (1 Tbsp) at a time. Pinch dough into desired pieces and knead each into round discs or desired shape. Add dumplings to boiling water and cook for 10-20 minutes, or when dumplings begin to float, they are done.
